So fun fact- the death penalty is illegal in Canada. Maybe this is why Canada has insane crime and even more insane serial killers, but there craziest in my opinion is Robert William Pickton.

I heard about Robert William Pickton on a podcast called Crime Junkie. I am addicted and the podcasts only covers true crime stories and there facts.

Robert William Pickton was born on Oct. 29, 1947 and was convicted of murdering seven women in 2007.

Pickton had a strategy and it was to prey on women in Vancouver's east side district. Drugs and prostitutes were really bad in this specific area and a lot of time these were women no one came looking for due to their bad life choices.

Pickton and his brother were pig farmers outside of Vancouver. Additionally, the brothers owned an old night club where they would lure women in at. Some believe Pickton began murdering all the way back in the 1970's at the night club he owned and the Vancouver east side.

He always had a reputation of being dirty and having a "creepy presence." But he was quiet so a lot of people didn't react or act out to it.

According to 10 Dark Facts About Robert William Pickton, the brother's party place was called "The Piggy Palace," and at these parties there was a lot of people and illegal substances. This was a perfect place for Pickton to begin his predator behavior and schemes on woman.

Aside from his nightclub, Pickton's farm itself was huge and well... very disturbing. People in Canada and neighbors near by said the Pickton's farm reminded them of the movie, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. #CrimeCrazy #ForReal

Between 1978 to 2001 over 45 women went "missing," in this Vancouver area and most believe that Pickton murdered them all. The earliest victim that was connected to Pickton was a young women named Diane Melnick. Diane's DNA was later found on Pickton's farms years later after she actually died and this connected her to be his "on-file," earliest victim.

So anyways...let's connect the dots... victims and pigs. How do you think he disposed of his victims? #Yikes #CrimeCrazy #StaySafe

So after he would kill the pigs that ate his victims he was then founded in turning that into meat and selling it to local people with no suspicion. Okay yeah- I understand if you stopped reading by now.

Obviously it was hard for Pickton's victims to be found and to have enough evidence to fully convict him. So like yeah- the legal system is insane, even after all this horrible evidence it "still wasn't enough."

Anyways he was finally found guilty in 2007 and has been charged to 25-years in prison. As mentioned Canada doesn't believe in life sentences so literally in 2024 he could potentially get his case appealed and released from prison.

After spending two-years in prison he finally admits to his cellmate (an undercover cop) that he has the ability to "make people disappear." He then admits to murdering 49 women. That's right, 49.

So Pickton is known as "The Butcher," and easily one of the most terrifying serial killers maybe ever. He is not talked about a whole lot because he resides in Canada.

So Canada might have free health care- but like- they have crazy crime with no life in person. Take your pick.
